Wine: Picardy Boise Sauvignon Blanc Semillon 2018
Grape(s): Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon
Region: Pemberton
Price: $29.99
Score: 92 Points
Appearance: A medium yellow colour, definitely darker than your classic WA SBS.
Aroma: This is quite the bizarre wine. On the nose I’m getting juniper & blackcurrant + heavy amounts of peach and some toasty spice on the end.
Palate: A careful balance of bursting acidity and complex oak, which nicely counter each other. The fruits are still very powerful, giving full respect to the 2018 vintage.
Review: I’ll be honest, this Bordeaux white style blend is not something I’m super familiar with, but is something I would definitely like to know more after this wine! As described in the palate, letting this wine see some barrel time + partial malo adds a huge additional dimension to this wine. This is the wine nerds version of SBS, because it’s straight up delicious.
