Wine: Bird in Hand Nero D’Avola 2018
Grape: Nero D’Avola
Region: Adelaide Hills
Price: $39.99
Score: 93.5 Points
Appearance: A medium purple, vibrant red hues.
Aroma: Intense nose, very punchy! Getting a lot of red cherry & redcurrant out of this wine. It is leaping out of the glass.
Palate: Those bright red fruits drink so well, nicely balanced with a full bodied structure, medium tannins and a little bit of spice.
Review: I didn’t know what to expect with this wine. A bizarre bottle, a very old grape Italian grape variety made in Aus? I was prepared to be let down, but boy was I wrong. This does justice to old world Nero and is stupidly drinkable. The kinda wine you will drink too fast! Lots of fruit, well balanced and not too heavy! Would pair well with light meats, Italian food and even some Asian meats (have confirmed it, is very nice!). Don’t sleep on this one!
