Aylesbury Estate ‘The Pater’ Chardonnay 2018

By admin | 25 November, 2020

Wine: Aylesbury Estate 2018

Grape(s): Chardonnay

Region: Ferguson Valley, Western Australia

Price: $34.99

Score: 94.5 Points

Appearance: Pale straw with vibrant lemon hues.

Aroma: Lifted white flowers, golden apples & buttery oak.

Palate: A burst of freshness meets a grapefruity zest, white peach and minerality. This is balanced, elegant and structural wine! Gorgeous integrated oak & a bit of butter.

Review: It’s chardonnay weather and I could not help myself but review one of WA’s best kept secret wineries! Aylesbury Estate, located in Ferguson Valley are producing some absolute gems! Halliday gave this chardy 95, so it’s not just me who rates them! There were only 2450 bottles produced of this wine, so I doubt it’s going to last long!

Alright, let me actually talk about the wine. If you couldn’t tell by my rating, I love this wine. It drinks well now, but has a huge potential to age into something phenomenal. It’s also a stupidly good price! This is a $50+ chardonnay, with no doubt in my mind! Something something this wine slaps, buy it!

Patritti NV Sparkling Shiraz

By admin | 17 November, 2020

Wine: Patritti NV Sparkling Shiraz

Grape(s): Shiraz

Region: McLaren Vale

Price: $22.99

Score: 90.5 Points

Appearance: Dark garnet

Aroma: Rich red fruits, gentle spice hint.

Palate: Rich red fruits and full bodied, with just a hint of blackcurrant and spices. There’s a little oak integration in here as well as some light, fine bubbles.

Review: ‘Tis (almost) the season for sparkling shiraz! This year, I think it’s time to bring this awesome style of wine back into flavour. The Patritti sparkling shiraz is straight up good stuff! This follows the trend of ‘a good winemaker with good grapes will always produce something good!’ This wine is prime summer day drinking at a BBQ, not too complex, just smooth, easy to drink and delicious flavours to round out a good wine! At $23, it punches well above its price and is sure to be a summer hit!
